The Minecraft community has realized through observation that while villagers can walk through things like wooden doors, they are unable to cross through wooden fence gates. The gate must be open for them to proceed through. They are incapable of opening them themselves.
What can villagers not open?
Yes. In fact, villagers can only open wooden doors. Villagers can’t open fence gates or trap doors, nor can they use buttons or levers, allowing you to use iron doors, iron trapdoors, or just about any redstone-based door mechanism without them being able to escape.
What can villagers not walk on?
However, they cannot open any trapdoors, fence gates, or iron doors. Villagers can climb ladders, but do not recognize them as paths and do not deliberately use them. Any climbing of ladders seems to be a side effect of them being pushed into the block by another mob, (likely, and most often, other villagers).

No. Villages are created when the world is generated, or built by players. They are not built by villagers. You can build some houses yourself, and the villagers can recognize it as a village, but villagers cannot build anything themselves.
How do you tell if a villager is a nitwit?
Nitwit is a unique type of villagers that can spawn in any village. Players can differentiate between them and other villagers by inspecting their appearance. Nitwits go to sleep and wake up roughly 2000 ticks after every other villager. They also don’t gather around the bell when it rings.
Can villagers use iron pressure plates?
Diamond pressure plates can only be activated by players. This can be useful in keeping piglins or villagers away from your base, as they can open doors an it’s quite annoying.

What doors can zombies not break?

Up to 10% of zombies (depending on regional difficulty) in pursuit of a target bang on closed wooden doors and on Hard (and Hardcore) difficulty can succeed in breaking them down. Otherwise, the door cracks but does not break.
Can villagers open chests?

It may be possible for you to put bread into a dropper (or dispenser) and then automatically activate the dropper with a redstone clock, but you need a good setup for this to solve your problem.

Can wandering traders open gates?
Wandering Traders will open doors in attempts to trade with someone new, but they cannot open Iron doors like most mobs. They can also have the function to leash their llamas to fence gates, so they can trade. Also, when a llama is unleashed, a wandering trader can re-leash them.
Can zombies open fence gates in Minecraft?
Fence gates are ideal for added protection because zombies cannot open them. Other hostile mobs, such as skeletons and creepers, cannot open fence gates either. The downside to this hack is that villagers can no longer open fence gates.
